Rocket Flight: Center of Gravity

Gravity is a force that pulls objects toward Earth. The greater an object’s mass, the greater the gravitational force. For a successful liftoff, a rocket must produce enough thrust to overcome the force of gravity.

The center of gravity (CG) is the balance point of the rocket body. Balancing a rocket on the edge of a ruler can help locate the rocket’s CG.
