Domes are one of the most solid architectural structures and one of the most efficient. Most domes are created using several triangles placed end to end, so force is distributed throughout the entire structure rather than to one specific area. If a tornado swept past or a hurricane hit, these structures are likely to remain standing. This is mainly due to the lack of any flat surfaces; therefore, elements breeze around and alongside of the surfaces rather than colliding into them. Also, they have less surface area, so less is exposed to the natural elements that can destroy other structures.
