Objective
Students will build arch models and use them to investigate the strengths and weaknesses of arches.
Description
Students will learn about arches and how the arch's shape helps to make it strong.
Procedures
Assign students to partners, and distribute the attached worksheet. Instruct them to build the models as directed and complete the worksheet.
Discussion
Use the Discussion points listed in the attached Teacher Notes.
Continuation
Challenge students to make their arches taller, wider, and so forth. Is there a limit to the size of arch that students could build?
