LEGO® MINDSTORMS® & Renewable Energy
Robotics and renewable energy – these are both topics that spark student interest. Combining them and inserting LEGO® bricks into the mix not only means immediate engagement in your classroom, but you’ll also cover key science and technology concepts and make the learning stick.
“We designed the activities not only to teach science, technology, engineering, and math concepts, but to also give students experiences that mimic the control technology used in real-world power stations,” said Andy Bell, who, as the former Director of Innovation for LEGO Education North America, led the team that developed the activities. “Many kids have renewable energy hubs in their own communities. We wanted to introduce them to the innovation happening right next door, at their level.”
The activity pack is a great drop-in to any middle or high school physical science or technology class. It features 23 hours of hands-on activities using LEGO MINDSTORMS® Education and the LEGO Education Renewable Energy Add-On Set. Included are nine lesson plans plus four open-ended challenges that provide students the opportunity to build, program, analyze data, innovate, observe, and solve problems creatively.
