LEGO Smart Creativity Winners Announced!
Congratulations to Chris Capps, homeschool educator from North Carolina, and the other 2011 LEGO® Smart Creativity Contest winners!
The nationwide contest, which ended in October, was designed for educators to showcase their creativity by demonstrating in an original video how they use LEGO Education materials to spark student innovation. Each video had to be no more than 150 seconds in length and incorporate at least one LEGO Education solution.
Entries ranged from videos of learners at desks using various LEGO Education products to students telling a story through a LEGO animation, much like the entry submitted by Chris and his two children. There were even a few that featured musical creativity as educators wrote and recorded original lyrics! The slate of winners was revealed at the STEM Summit in St. Louis this past November.
Winners were selected in five segments: Lower Elementary (K-2), Upper Elementary (3-5), Middle School (6-8), High School (9-12), and Homeschool. In addition, one Grand Prize Winner was chosen from all submitted entries.
The Grand Prize Winner received a $5,000 LEGO Education gift certificate and Segment Winners received a $2,500 certificate to purchase LEGO Education products. All winners also received an all-expense-paid trip to attend the STEM Summit in St. Louis.
