Transitioning from the Existing System to the NXT One

LEGO® Education announced the MINDSTORMS® Education NXT robotics system in early January 2006. Does this mean that the RCX and ROBOLAB-based LEGO MINDSTORMS for Schools are out like yesterday’s trash? No!

The NXT sets aren’t even available until August of 2006. In the meantime, LEGO MINDSTORMS for Schools will be supported through 2009. During this time, you’ll be able to purchase curriculum and support materials for either system. As always, you’ll get the same great service and technical assistance from our friendly and well-trained customer service and technical support staff, no matter which platform you use.

Current LEGO MINDSTORMS for Schools users may decide to make the transition in 2006 or in 2009. No matter when you switch from the existing platform to the new one, you’ll have plenty of support. You’ll be able to work closely with your LEGO Education Consultant to build a transition plan, and as time goes on, LEGO Education will provide more information about transitioning on the NXT information page.

Rest assured, LEGO Education knows that all users of LEGO Robotics, whether they’ve been using LEGO Education products for 10 years or two, will have questions. Please feel free to send any questions you have to NXT@LEGOeducation.us.
