Put Your Best Build Forward In 2009
For the next five months, LEGO® Education will be hosting a LEGO Smart™ Creativity Contest, an activity challenge for educators of all subjects and grade levels!
The LEGO Smart initiative launched in 2007 with the goal of promoting the educational value of LEGO elements. The basic concept relates to the fact that anyone at any age can create anything using LEGO ingenuity.
In 2009, LEGO Education is expanding that philosophy and offering prizes to educators who take a set of LEGO bricks, deemed the LEGO Smart Kit, and develop classroom activities.
The contest runs through August and congratulates one Grand prize winner and eight monthly winners. Prizes consist of LEGO brick sets, promotional materials, and gift certificates to LEGOeducation.us.
In addition, the Grand Prize winner will see their activity reproduced on the 2010 LEGO Smart Kit card included in each kit package.
You can order a free LEGO Smart Kit by logging onto LEGOeducation.us and clicking the LEGO Smart Creativity Contest icon in the right navigation bar.
When your kit arrives, all you need to do is think of how you can incorporate the 20 elements into your curriculum by developing a classroom activity.
After you have an activity developed, the final step is to submit it online. Activities are posted on the LEGO Smart Blog and shared with fellow educators across the nation once they are approved by contest staff.
