A Powerful Partnership:
When it comes to robotics education, LEGO® Education and Vernier Software & Technology share the same vision: motivating students to learn through the use of hands-on robotics projects.
Thanks to the Vernier Sensor Adapter for NXT, the power of Vernier sensors is now available to any LEGO Education MINDSTORMS® NXT robotics project.
The adapter allows NXT robots to incorporate more than 30 Vernier analog sensors into sensor-based control systems.
Some of the sensors available to students using the adapter include the Magnetic Field Sensor, pH Sensor, and Low-g Accelerometer.
A complete listing of sensors, their functions, and possible uses can be found at vernier.com/nxt.
In addition, project summaries and descriptions, demo videos, project downloads (including programming and building instructions), equipment lists, and much more are available.
Vernier sensors and activities span all grade levels and cover multiple science, technology, engineering, and math objectives.
A few activities that caught our eye included the Magnetic Finder, which uses the Magnetic Field Sensor to locate a magnet under empty walnut shells, and NXT Golf, which incorporates the Low-g Accelerometer to map the angle and speed of a golfer's swing.
