Renewable Energy Set Coming This Fall

This fall classrooms across the nation will be exploring how to generate power using the Sun, wind, and water in new and engaging ways!

The LEGO^® Education Renewable Energy Add-On Set, available in late 2010, gives students a unique hands-on experience with various sources of renewable energy.

Featuring a range of new elements including the LEGO Energy meter with integrated energy storage, a solar panel, blades, a motor/generator, LED lights, and an extension wire the set also contains building instructions for a variety of models such as a solar-powered car and a wind turbine.

A Renewable Energy Activity Pack provides six 45-minute lessons and four problem-solving activities that enables students to explore renewable energy through LEGO models while connecting their builds to images of real-life energy sources.

Students investigate energy supply, transfer, accumulation, conversion, and consumption while using measurements and data analysis to describe and explain outcomes.

The add-on set can be used with both the Simple and Motorized Mechanisms Set or LEGO MINDSTORMS^® Education NXT Set.
