“For the past two years I have incorporated the Engineering with NI LabView: High School Robotics Activities Set into the classroom curriculum. It provides an excellent opportunity to challenge students and teach the engineering design process with real word applications. The students really get excited to work in teams for the classroom competitions. I am always amazed with their creativity and how fast they pick up the programming. The students are gaining skills that will help them as they go on to the next level of education and employment.”

Ken Biggs,
Kalamazoo Central High School

Recently upgraded and optimized for use with the LabVIEW™ for LEGO® MINDSTORMS® software, this activity set features a series of 10 progressive building and programming units that introduce students to LabVIEW for LEGO MINDSTORMS with LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT and TETRIX® by Pitsco. With these activities, students put the engineering design process into practice in an assistive robotics theme, providing real-world scenarios and open-ended challenges perfect for any high school engineering, technology, or robotics class. Delivery of the activities is flexible – all necessary resources are included to facilitate either a teacher-led or student-centric delivery method. In addition to a printed teacher guide, separate teacher and student CD-ROMs are included. The student CD features an interactive interface that enables easy access to printable worksheets and quizzes; instructional videos that walk students through programming in LabVIEW for LEGO MINDSTORMS; and a toolbox that includes a parts library, glossary, and more. The teacher CD includes all of these items plus answer keys and programming solutions, assessment rubrics, robot building instructions, and digital versions of teacher notes. The activities provide a minimum of 30 hours of class time and include extension ideas to expand the use of the hardware and software.

Required are LabVIEW for LEGO MINDSTORMS seats for each student computer and one MINDSTORMS Education Base Set with TETRIX for every two students.
