The Intelligent Control Activity Pack was designed around a robot built with the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education Set and TETRIX® metal building system in order to provide students with the confidence to quickly and easily control more complex robots. When used with the Intelligent Control Software, the Intelligent Control Activity Pack will engage your students by having them navigate their robot through various obstacle courses on a mat by making sense of the live sensor readings updating via Bluetooth on the graph computer display. The activity pack comes in a three-ring binder and includes four activities that provide a scaffold for students to familiarize themselves with joystick remote-controlled navigation of a robot, as well as understand a physical environment through only light and ultrasound sensor data. Each activity requires 15 minutes of teacher preparation time and one to two hours of implementation and offers open-ended extensions, enabling students to push the limits of both the robot and software application. A CD-ROM with a PDF of all the activities and worksheets is included. Computers with Bluetooth capability, the TETRIX® and MINDSTORMS® Education Starter Set, and Intelligent Control Software are all required for the activity pack and sold separately.
