STEM 2 with Vernier and LEGO® MINDSTORMS® NXT is the second book of projects and labs developed in collaboration with LEGO Education and Vernier. It has activities using a Dual-Range Force Sensor, Magnetic Field Sensor, Voltage Probe, and Gas Pressure Sensor to motivate upper middle school and high school students to pursue science and engineering careers.
It includes 12 ready-to-use lab activities covering topics in physical science and engineering, including mechanics, pressure, electricity, and magnetism. Also included are eight design-and-build robotics projects challenging students to build and program robots for testing batteries, “land mine” locator, automated Cartesian diver, and more. The book also includes:
- Complete student experiments with materials list, step-by-step instructions, data tables, and questions.
- A Teacher Information section for each experiment with complete directions for setting up experiments, helpful hints, and sample graphs and data.
- A CD with editable student handouts in Word format and MINDSTORMS NXT sample programs, movie clips, and LEGO Digital Designer files with detailed instructions for building and operating the robotics projects.
